رسى قارب في قرية صيد صغيرة بالمكسيك




A boat docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.





فامتدح سائحٌ الصيادين المحليين في جودة أسماكهم، ثم سألهم كم احتاجوا من الوقت لاصطيادها.

A tourist complimented the local fishermen

on the quality of their fish and asked
how long it took him to catch them.









فأجابه الصيادون متّحدين "ليس وقتا طويلاً"




"Not very long." they answered in unison.



"لماذا لا تقضون وقتاً أطول وتصطادون أكثر؟"


"Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?"





الصيادون أوضحوا أن صيدهم القليل يكفي حاجتهم وحاجة عوائلهم

The fishermen explained that their small catches were sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families.







"ولكن، ماذا تفعلون في بقية أوقاتكم؟"


"But what do you do with the rest of your time?"



"ننام إلى وقت متأخر، نصطاد قليلاً، نلعب مع أطفالنا ونأكل مع زوجاتنا. وفي المساء نزور أصدقاؤنا، نلهو ونلعب بالجيتار ونغني بعض الأغنيات،،

"We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children, and take siestas with our wives. In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs.










قال السائح مقاطعاً:

The tourist interrupted



"لدي ماجستير إدارة أعمال من هارفرد، وبإمكاني مساعدتكم!

عليكم أن تبدأوا في الصيد لفترات طويلة كل يوم
ومن ثم تبيعون السمك الإضافي بعائد أكبر وتشترون قارب صيد أكبر"






"I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you!

You should start by fishing longer every day.

You can then sell the extra fish you catch.
With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."






"ثم ماذا؟"

"And after that?"




"مع القارب الكبير والنقود الإضافية، تستطيعون شراء قارب ثاني وثالث وهلم جرا حتى يصبح لديكم أسطول سفن صيد متكامل، وبدل أن تبيعوا صيدكم لوسيط، ستتفاوضون مباشرة من المصانع وربما أيضاً ستفتحون مصنعاً خاصاً بكم،،

"With the extra money the larger boat will bring,

you can buy a second one and a third one
and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers.
Instead of selling your fish to a middle man,
you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants
and maybe even open your own plant.







وسيكون بإمكانكم مغادرة هذه القرية وتنتقلون لمكسيكو العاصمة، أو لوس أنجلوس أو حتى نيويورك!

You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico Cit y , Los Angeles , or even New York City !



ومن هناك سيكون بإمكانكم مباشرة مشاريعكم العملاقة"

From there you can direct your huge new enterprise."






"كم من الوقت سنحتاج لتحقيق هذا؟"

"How long would that take?" < BR>







"عشرين أو ربما خمسة وعشرين سنة"


"Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years." replied the tourist.




"وماذا بعد ذلك؟"

"And after that?"






"بعد ذلك؟ حسناً أصدقائي، عندها يكون الوقت ممتعاً حقاً" أجاب السائح ضاحكاً، "عندما تكبر تجارتكم سوف تقومون بالمضاربة في الأسهم وتربحون الملايين"

"Afterwards? Well my friend, that's when it gets really interesting, " answered the tourist, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!"





"الملايين؟ حقاً؟ وماذا سنفعل بعد ذلك؟" سأل الصيادون

"Millions? Really? And after that?" asked the fishermen.







"بعد ذلك يمكنكم أن تتقاعدوا، وتعيشوا بهدوء في قرية على الساحل، تنامون إلى وقت متأخر، تلعبون مع أطفالكم، وتأكلون مع زوجاتكم، وتقضون الليالي في الإستمتاع مع الأصدقاء"



"After that you'll be able to retire,

live in a tiny village near the coast,

sleep late, play with your children,
catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife
and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends."







"مع كامل الإحترام والتقدير، ولكن هذا بالضبط ما نفعله الآن،


إذا ما هو المنطق الذي من أجله نضيع خمسة وعشرين سنة نقضيها شقاءً؟"

"With all due respect sir, but that's exactly what we are doing now. So what's the point wasting twenty-five years?" asked the Mexicans.
